Seasfire - We Will Wake - We Will Wake EP

Image
Have you ever done that thing where you fall in love with a song so you play it over and over again, but then you get tired of it and end up hating yourself because you ruined it? I do, but I keep on almost doing that with this band! Fortunately, I'll catch myself JUST before it gets to 100 plays and realise, hang on, you're doing that thing again. I've only just learned the self-control to be able to do this. You need to be in the right frame of mind for it though, like if you're in the mood for jumping around or being excited then definitely do not listen to this song at that moment. This song is for being mellow and (yeah, you guessed it) chilled out. If you're feeling either of those things or any other synonyms, do give this song a list...

Crystal Fighters - Follow - Star of Love

Image
Crystal Fighters are an up and coming band from London. Haven't heard of them? Nah, neither had I. But you may have heard their music. I found this song on the advert for the new Sony Xperia T phone, you know that one where they're all slamming their phones together and throwing suitcases into the air? The version on the advert is a remix by Benga, but the one I'm talking about here is the album original. Their music has been used in loads of different stuff as well, including Skins and various adverts. They also had one of their first singles put out by Two Door Cinema Club's label, Kitsuné.

The Maccabees - Pelican - Given To The Wild

Image
As you will know if you read this blog (or as you can guess from previous posts if you don't), I went to Beach Break Live this year and absolutely loved it. If you have read it, you'll see that I mention The Maccabees briefly; my opinion was rather on the fence to be honest. I didn't massively care for their performance but nor did I loathe it. So anyway, I'm a fan of their songs " Feel To Follow " and " Went Away ". Take a listen, I've put the Youtube links in with the titles just there. They're really good songs for chillin', which, if you've read my blog before, you'll know I enjoy doing a lot. This song, "Pelican", is a little bit different.

PartyClub - Shake

You will be pleased to know (or not, I mean you might not even care in the slightest) that I found my most recent blog interest NOT ON RADIO 1! Yay! Huzzah for Twitter, the band posted this on their SoundCloud account and linked it to their Twitter account earlier today and I was lucky enough to happen upon it. I'm really buzzing on this song, it's an awesome summer tune (yeah I just said summer tune). I just wanna keep playing it! There are some elements of it that I like, and there are some parts of it that I just wanna hear over and over again. I've got to pace myself though, I always overplay songs that I really like just because I'm excited about it. Slooow it down.

alt-J - Tessellate - An Awesome Wave

Image
alt-J have only really just appeared on the radar in the last few months or so really. Their album, An Awesome Wave, is a big favourite of Radio 1, who have been promoting it quite heavily recently. It's out currently and is DEFINITELY worth a listen. Top tracks for me at the moment are Breezeblocks (the biggy), this track, Tessellate, and Dissolve Me. Another band I like called Seasfire are a bit similar to alt-J, in terms of being a breath of fresh and individual air to most of the stuff in the charts at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna lie and say I don't like chart music because I really do, and yeah I'm sold on the whole dubstep and drum and bass thing at the moment, but it is nice to hear music that isn't buying into that whole shebang for once. Anyway, listen to the song Falling by the band Seasfire, I was literally obsessed with this song for a while. I reckon they're similar because they're both so chilled, and if you listen t...
